Our Cremation
Services
Legacy Pet offers pet cremation and pet memorial products.
You may choose between two types of cremation: communal or individual.
The cost will depend on the size of your pet and the urn or casket that you choose if you are getting a Return of Ashes. Please order your pet’s cremation through your vet. If your pet has died at home, the best option is to take them to your local vet and order a cremation through them.
Remember, the cremation option you choose does not reflect your love for your pet, your ‘story’ and memories do. Difficult decisions need support. Ask someone you trust to assist you with a choice or you’re welcome to call us, we’re here to help.
Communal Cremation
• Pets are cremated with other beloved companions; therefore, ashes cannot be returned and are ethically disposed of according to municipal compliance.
We have memorial options to honour and remember your pet for those who choose communal cremation.
No matter what you choose, your pet will remain a beautiful part of your life.
Return of Ashes
• Pets are cremated individually. We have a system to ensure that it really is your pet’s ashes that you receive back.
• Order your cremation and casket through your vet and your pet’s ashes will be returned to your vet in a beautiful scatter box, or the urn that you have chosen.
There is no right or wrong option, your grief is personal.
Private Cremation
• Please contact our office in Gauteng, Western Cape or KZN and make arrangements.
• Wait in our comfort room at our site during cremation.
• Then you may take your pet’s ashes home with you in a beautiful scatter box.
Horse Care
Western Cape and Gauteng only
• Legacy will collect your deceased horse.
• Ashes are returned to your vet in a beautiful wooden casket.
• Direct delivery to your door can be arranged.
You and your horse have been brave, and we applaud your courage for doing your best.
We offer these services primarily through local vets. Please take your deceased pet to the nearest 24-hour vet if it is outside business hours; we will collect them from there. We collect pets from home only under special circumstances and only during business hours.
Remembering the legacy of your pet
Memorializing your faithful friend is an intuitive and important part of the grieving process. Legacy Pet currently offers a range of memorabilia from affordable garden stones to more valuable ash infused into glass keepsakes. These help owners celebrate their pet’s life and process their death.
